Vigna d’Alfiero is made from Sangiovese grapes from one of our most treasured vineyards, planted at the end of the 1960's by Alfiero Carpini, historical cellarman and master winemaker at Tenuta Valdipiatta. Produced only in the best years, this wine combines the richness, elegance and fineness of Sangiovese with the decisive character imparted by the winery's terroir.

Vinification
Vinification in steel tanks at controlled temperatures between 24 and 28 °C. Maceration on the skins for 20-25 days. Daily pump over and délestage at the beginning and in the middle of fermentation. Spontaneous malolactic fermentation takes place in temperature controlled steel tanks.
Aging and refining
After an aging period of 15-18 months in French oak tonneaux of 500 l and/or Slavonian oak barrels of 30 hl, the wine is left to refine in the bottle for another 6-12 months.
Recommended pairing
Well-structured and flavourful dishes such as pasta with wild game, mushroom or truffle sauce, grilled or stewed red meats, roasted or stewed game, roasts and very mature cheeses.
