Dark, brooding and intense, the 2008 is laced with smoke, tobacco, new leather, plums and black cherries, all in a firm, tannic style that will require a few more years in bottle to show at its best. The Vigna d'Alfiero is 100% Prugnolo Gentile (Sangiovese) that spent 18 months in French oak barrels.”

“A dark, powerful wine, the 2010 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano shows off gorgeous definition and clarity, especially for such a big wine. Cloves, leather, spices and smoke all add considerable nuance and character. The style is a bit burly, but it works. A dollop of Canaiolo adds a nice touch of complexity.”
